CHRIS was born and raised in New York City and comes from a family of professional musicians. His mother LOU ROGERS is a multi-talented composer & lryicist and his father was the late trombonist BARRY ROGERS (please visit Barry's web site barryrogersjazz.com via the link below). Chris began trumpet lessons at age 10 after receiving his first horn from family friend Lew Soloff. His trumpet teachers have included William F. Rohdin and Vince Penzarella. At the age of 19 and via the recommendation of the renowned trumpeter Tom Harrell, Chris began a 5-year association as a featured soloist with Gerry Mulligan's Concert Jazz Band. In 1987 Chris received the Downbeat magazine award for "Outstanding Performance by a College Jazz Soloist" and in 1997, JAZZIZ magazine named Chris a co-winner of the "Brass Player On Fire" talent search. His recording of "Pandora's Box" was subsequently featured on JAZZIZ ONDISC. (Click on the photo gallery pages below to see Chris in action!)

CHRIS ROGERS is a member of trumpeter Tom Harrell's big band and appeared on Tom's Grammy nominated "Times Mirror" CD...Other recent recordings featuring Chris include Christy Barron's "Steppin" on Chesky Records, and No Saints No Sinners by STEVE JOHNS & PETE BRAININ. The CD also features CONRAD HERWIG, EDDIE HENDERSON, JAY ANDERSON and GEORGE CABLES...Chris recently recorded his jazz-debut CD "VOYAGE HOME", featuring guest soloists MICHAEL BRECKER and STEVE KHAN! A set of 8 Rogers originals with a stellar supporting cast including TED NASH, XAVIER DAVIS, JAY ANDERSON, and STEVE JOHNS. Stay tuned for periodic updates on this special project...
